How training data is used.

Training session measurement

Make Good Moves stores a randomly generated installation identifier in your browser's local storage. It persists between visits so we can understand whether the same browser returns and whether a completed session leads to another session or account creation. It is not your name, email address, advertising identifier, or IP address.

For a training session, we may record the positions shown, session source, selected themes, completion progress, outcomes, decision duration, hint use, incorrect-move counts, continuation into another session, and timestamps. This information is used to improve position quality, diagnose abandonment, and evaluate whether training is useful.

Accounts

If you create an account after completing a session, that originating anonymous session may be attributed to the new account. Once signed in, training attempts and sessions may also be associated with your Make Good Moves account so ratings, history, and progress can work.

Account authentication is provided by Neon Auth. If you choose Google sign-in, Google and Neon process the account identifiers and information needed to authenticate you, such as your email address. During explicit account selection, Google provides a short-lived access token to this browser. Make Good Moves uses it only to confirm which Google email was selected before Neon completes sign-in; the token is not stored or sent to the Make Good Moves API.

Storage and infrastructure

The analytics tables do not retain your IP address. Hosting, security, and network providers may process connection information temporarily as part of operating and protecting the service. Analytics requests that cannot be delivered immediately may be held in local storage and retried later.

Your browser controls

Clearing this site's local storage removes the installation identifier and pending analytics requests from that browser. Previously received aggregate and session records are not removed merely by clearing browser storage.
